Huidige functieomschrijving

Ik ben werkzaam als postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij het Instituut voor Natuur en Bosonderzoek, de onderzoeksinstelling voor natuur en milieu van de Vlaamse overheid. Daar doe ik onderzoek naar vissen, hun gedrag en de problemen die ze ondervinden door de mens met als doel oplossingen te vinden voor een effectiever waterbeheer. Een veel gebruikte techniek die ik daarvoor gebruik is telemetrie, het zenderen en volgen van vissen. De paling speelt een centrale rol in dit onderzoek omdat de soort ernstig bedreigd is en opgenomen is in een Europese Palingverordening.

Ervaring

Sinds 2011 betrokken in visonderzoek, in het bijzonder met het zenderen en volgen van vissen.
